In this class you will create a one of a kind Angel. We will work mostly in black and white with a hint of color. Usually I use color in their lips or on the face. The black and white stands for how we see the world and times, that it really is that simple just two colors in terms of good and bad pain and joy. I use the color in my Angels to show that we still see hope in the world. That beauty along with compassion always finds a way to rise to the top. This is a great class to also practice skills in monocratic painting and getting a better hang on tone and depth of just using a couple colors.

The only other important part of this class is that you need to seek out a world event that is currently happening that stirs your heart and emotions. You should feel contacted to this event and a level of passion because this will direct how your angel will come to being. If this is a current event bring in the newspaper articles with you, they will be great in the collaged backgrounds.

This is a great class for all levels. As always I will share templates for faces for those newer artists trying out their hand and painting and drawing. For more skilled you are welcome to free hand this. I will share info on products and some great technique on creating beautiful faces.

• Wood for painting
• Paper towels
• Water containers
• Stencils & stamps
• Templates and handouts

Student should bring:

• Black & White, Payne's Grey, red or pink paint
• Pencils and eraser
• Images & ephemera in black and white (newspaper is great for this project)
• Brushes
• Gesso & gel medium
• Molding paste (this will be used to make the wings)

Optional:

• charcoal pencil or stabilo pencil
