In this all day (6 hour) workshop, imagine making a completely original and new book from items you can only find at a hardware store. No paper, no glue - just steel, aluminum, wood, nuts and bolts.this is "MANBOOK!" This book can be used as a journal in which collected items are soldered, wired or bolted to the pages. Or it can be used as a basis of an artist's book unlike anything you've seen before. Students will learn to handle hand and power tools such as hack saws, channel locks, drill presses and hand sanders while creating a most unusual book form.
The instructor will provide complete written instructions (for later reference), hand and power tools and all necessary materials to make one book with at least three "pages" (you can easily add more later). The "manly studio" will be equipped with several drill presses on which class participants may also use afterwards to drill beads or other items needing "revision". Instructor will have on hand all necessary tools to complete the project; however participants are highly encouraged to bring their own hand tools to minimize waiting for tools to be available.
Supply list : Tin snips or metal shears (strong enough to cut hardware cloth), Pliers, Regular and Phillips head screw drivers, Pencil, Ruler, Good gloves to protect your hands while handling sharp edged metal.
You may also want to bring your own metallic embellishments, decorative wire and other similar goodies.
