Defining You Inner Goddess: Creativity with Verve - WORKSHOP FILLED -

Art is not meant to be created in stolen moments only. Treat yourself to a whole day of experimentation and full-blast expression. We will create large, vivid mixed media paintings, depicting our personal goddesses. If you have lost touch with her, in the midst of an overly-busy life, this will be a chance to reconnect and revitalize, working alongside kindred souls. Every woman needs a goddess to look out for her – whether it is a “known” deity such as Aphrodite, or an invented goddess like “The High Heeled Lady”. Low-tech ideas for creating a rich layered surface will be explored in this PROCESS-driven workshop, appropriate for any skill level. For seekers and adventurers who are ready to dig deep and experience a full day of unlimited creativity in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Supplies furnished by Instructor: I will bring large sheets of paper to work on and each student will receive a packet of workshop information, motivational materials, and instructional worksheets.

Supply List:
8 oz. Jar of white gesso
your favorite mark-making tools (gel pens, Sharpies, colored pencils, markers, etc) will come in handy. Please include a china marker (grease pencil) or a soft graphite pencil.
inexpensive acrylic paints in a range of colors - be sure to include white, black and one metallic in the mix. 10-12 colors will be fine.
you may also want to bring a selection of water-soluble pastels (Portfolio brand are inexpensive and can be found at Staples) and/or conte crayons.
4-6 inexpensive bristle brushes, various sizes
8 oz. Jar of matte acrylic medium, for adhering collage elements
pack of index cards, any size
masking tape
X-acto knife or scissors
1 Sheet of sandpaper – any grit
Palette for paints
Water container for brushes

For collage: Collect a file of images that represent the qualities you want to express through your Goddess. For instance, if you want to create more Quality Time in your life, bring images of clocks, watches, timepieces, hour glasses, etc.

Magazine photos, clipart from archival books, photos, drawings from your sketchbook or journal, etc. Don't go overboard – a selection of 8-12 images will be fine.

Also, start gathering a file of WORDS to add to your painting of the goddess. Clip words from magazines, ads, junk mail, posters, etc. Choose words that are affirming, wise, insightful, compelling, quirky and potent. You may also want to generate some of your own words, using a Word Processor. (If you prefer, you can bring along a favorite set of alphabet rubber stamps to imprint your words. Include ink pads!)

At least two sheets of colored tissue paper. (Patterned, solid-colored, or dress patterns, etc.)
