Women, children and men have worn bangles to signify their importance, wealth, and status for centuries. Why not show the world your importance by making and wearing your own signifier.  In this workshop we will be using the anti-clastic raising technique to make the bangle.  This technique forms the metal in a circle at the same time as forming the axis of the metal upward, away from the circular form.  We will then drill holes across the two sides of the metal and ball rivet your own dangles.  We will enamel, patina and stamp the bracelet in the colors of your choice. The colors and surface treatments you choose will show your personality in conjunction with the dangles that we hang from the bangle.  You will learn several metalworking techniques and leave with a unique modern day version of an ancient adornment.

Kit fee of $10 payable to Instructor at class time includes: handouts, gas, enamel and patina

Instructor will provide torch, hammers, stakes, stamps, drill bits and flex shaft

SupplyList (all students must bring):

• Flex shaft if you already have one mounted on wood with a clamp
• Safety goggle
• Dust mask
• 24 gauge copper sheet 6”x6”
• 16 gauge sterling wire 12”
• 18 gauge sterling or copper wire 6”
• Baubles that have personal significance that can be drilled and hung from the bangle (items could include beads, stones, found objects, chains etc).
