Using the supplied kit, a student may accomplish creating an OOAK doll in their choice of style. Students will learn assembly techniques in making a doll utilizing two totally different materials (i.e. canvas and Creative PaperClay) as well as either an introduction to Creative PaperClay usage, or further techniques on finishing Creative PaperClay. Those in the beginner mode will learn how to handle Creative PaperClay and options as to its uses. Those that are intermediate will likely learn finishing techniques and new applications for Creative PaperClay.

Supplies Provided by the Instructor for use in class:
Various pre-made molds for Creative PaperClay objects to be used as embellishments
Student will choose 1 of the 3 doll styles/designs (Mermaid, Steampunk, or Native Indian) constructed with painters canvas sewn together and stuffed with polyfiber-fill and weighted doll pellets. The student MUST email Meri(email address at the bottom of this page), at time of registration, which style/design they wish to work on and which surface prep they would prefer from gesso in either white, black, clear or no gesso.
One raw, dried, Creative PaperClay face ready for finishing
Four “rusted” washers for attaching limbs (two for the Mermaid)
Four coated wire lengths for creating limbs (two for Mermaid)
There is also an included pattern for the doll of choice for those wishing to make more dolls later
and for shared use during class: Extension cords, toaster ovens for drying Creative PaperClay items, gesso, a small variety of paints and brushes. Further supplies include a collection of various embellishments, both vintage and new, spare heat tools/hair dryers, and a plethora of other spare tools. Various water containers will be available for water usage with the clay, as well as for cleaning brushes. Thread and needles will be supplied for those wishing to use this method to attach embellishments or limbs.

Embellishments, supplies and extra kits will be available for purchase during class.

Student Should Bring:
Preferred paints (acrylics, watercolors and water soluble crayons or pencils) and paint supplies
Brushes
Heat tools
Hairdryers
Wire cutters
Wire manipulation tools/jewelers tools
Any and all embellishments preferred
Embossing powders
Inks both spray and pad
Mod Podge or preferred sealer, E6000 and any other preferred adhesive
Two to three sheets of 100 grit sandpaper
X-acto knife is preferred, as well
Students should bring any and all additional embellishments they may wish to use, as well as other materials (i.e. feathers, fabric, leather, metal, wire, etc.), however, some of these items will be available both for free and for purchase during class time. Other surface texture mediums such as modeling paste, gels and dimensional paints
