In this project workshop, students will create a western/cowgirl themed shadowbox interpreting Zane Grey’s famous book, “Light of Western Stars,” or a similar book of their choosing. Class will cover the following: Using a book and its cover to establish a theme and color palette; painting & applying a patina finish to a pre-constructed shadowbox and complimentary embellishments with the use of Sophisticated Finishes and acrylic paints; using chalk and Fixatif to achieve a vintage look in old photographs; achieving dimension in a shadowbox/assemblage using foam core board and wood blocks; highlighting 3D assemblage using a stamp and ink pads.
Kit Fee of $20 payable to instructor at class time includes: one 11” X 9” shadowbox NOTE: Shadowboxes are professionally handmade to the artist’s specifications out of pressed wood, need no sanding, and are especially sturdy and functional.
