Student Level: All levels

I will show you how to transform simple wooden boxes into mixed media light boxes—electrical assemblage! Actually, the finished project is a little more interesting than that; you will be creating weird and wonderful windows. These little portholes will peek through layers and layers of imagery into an ethereal world. Multiple layers of glass, photo transparencies, paint and bits of assemblage are all that's needed to take this visual journey...oh, I guess we need light bulbs too.

Kit Fee of $25 payable to instructor at class time includes the wooden box, glass inserts, light fixture, bulb, and cord

Supply List:
Exacto knife or Scissors
Brushes ( a few detail or line brushes, some flat in different sizes nothing larger than 1"--leave your expensive ones at home)
Gel medium – semi gloss
Paints (white, black, quinacridone gold, red, dioxazine purple, blue, yellow--any others you desire);
Strong clear glue like E 6000 or Liquid Nails Clear
Doodads and found objects--nothing too big;
Transparencies with images Xeroxed on to them (to fit in a 5"x5" space, but they don't need to be that large because you'll be cutting them if you desire.  Variety is the spice of life, so bring lots of images to choose from.  You never know what might come in handy.)

Optional:  household extension cord
