Challenge what is commonly held notions of what is considered jewelry. Tastefully alter and incorporate personal mementos and found objects to

create a wearable work of art. Create unique charms using silver, brass and copper sheet metal. Learn metal techniques such as hand hammering,

shaping, stamping and a variety of oxidizing methods. Become familiar with metalworking tools such as the flexible shaft drill and it’s

attributes. Learn Talisman history and how they were created to gain certain attributes such as protection, strength, material and spiritual gain. Students will finish their bracelet with a sterling silver closure.

Kit Fee of 24.00 payable to instructor at class time includes sheet metal, brass and copper, jump rings, sterling silver link, silver wire for closure, head pins, eyelets, sandpaper and handout.

Supply List:

Tin snips or jewelers saw or wire snips
Needle nose
Chain nose pliers
Metal wire (18 to 26 gauge)
Small hammer
Anvil
Metal file

Optional: If you have please bring flexible shaft drill or hand drill, 1/16 or 1/8 metal files, jewelry saw, bench pin and metal hole punch, beads, tin scraps, found or small precious objects, sheet metal.
