Exclusive AU workshop!

In this day and age of excess, it’s nice to know that artists/creative thinkers can re-purpose bits of so called trash into objects of beauty. Bringing tossed out jewelry boxes, mail packaging, un-used selvage, old buttons and more into something more appealing, we will explore a basic book cover and binding technique that will encase a small box. Decorative techniques in rubberstamping, foiling, faux patina (non-toxic) and surface design will be demonstrated as well.

Instructor will supply: rubberstamps, card board, chip board, foam core, pearl-ex powders, ink, oil pastels, mulberry paper, ribbon, glue gun, blow pens

Supply List:

From now until the class, I challenge you to check your surroundings at home, your creative space or art studio for “toss offs” of small jewelry boxes, fabric selvage, small bits and pieces of interesting textural items (vegetable netting, mail packaging) anything that you’ve been holding onto but don’t know why! Think of it as a treasure hunt! You will also need:

Paper scissors
4 buttons
Metal edge ruler (12 inch)
Glue stick
Exacto knife
Small cutting mat

Optional:

Mulberry paper
