Paper Altering Workshop
$55
Tess Sinclair
Student Level: All levels
What do shoe polish; coffee, Jell-O and nail polish have to do with mixed media and book arts? These are just some of the materials you will use to create beautiful colors and textures on paper to use in your work.
In this exciting workshop the teacher will hand out written instructions on labels that you simply stick in the paper-altering journal you will create during class. This way you can focus on the process as you make your own samples for your journal.
You will rust, marble, crack, and stain with a variety of materials to create papers with beautiful, aged patinas. Working with gold, garnets, glass and paper beads you will be delighted with the results. From the sublime to the mundane, you will work with techniques to create chalkboard, cobblestone, faux leather, scraffito and marbling effects.
Time will spent experimenting with wonderful techniques on acrylic and watercolors paints, walnut and colored inks and Neocolor,
You will leave class pooped out but filled to the brim with knowledge, inspiration and the power that new techniques bring to you work. With your journal, packed with samples and instructions, you will have a handy reference at your fingertips as you get back to your studio!
The teacher always has a treasure or two for artists in her workshops. Love those flea markets!!!!
