Gypsy Fortuneteller Doll
$140
Lisa Renner

Student Level: All levels

Love art dolls?  Then join us in this all day workshop, (even if you’ve never made a doll before), where you will construct an art doll that is full of Bohemian soul!  You will make your doll beginning with an easy basic armature and build from there.

The hands and face will be made using polymer clay, and selecting from a variety of face molds you will learn simple modification techniques to customize the one of your choice so that your doll is uniquely yours.  Methods for fabrication of hands will also be learned.

To create her Gypsy look, she will be colorfully dressed from head to toe beginning with fabric strips, ribbons, and fibers you bring from home. Depending on the colors of fabric strips you bring, she can be monochromatic or wildly attired!  Additional fabrics and materials will be available in class to design an airy skirt and once she is draped in her simple but elegant robe and adorned with her “crystal ball”, you’ll be able to visualize The Gypsy Fortuneteller revealing the mysteries of the future!

At the end of class, your completed, “one-of-a-kind doll” will stand approximately 14-16” tall. The techniques you learn in class for fabrication can be applied in future doll projects.  Detailed handout will be provided.

Kit fee of $15.00 (cash, please) paid to instructor at beginning of class, includes:  materials for armature, fabrics and materials for skirt and robe, materials for doll stand, batting, wire, “crystal ball”, and hand-out with complete instructions.

Instructor provides:   dyes, paints, glue, metallic powders, face molds to select from for class use, additional tools, ovens, and all other supplies not listed for students to bring.

Supply List:

Tool kit (including scissors)
Clay-working tools if you have them (a conical, rubber-tipped clay tool is great!)
