Found Object Constructions
$145
Sas Colby

Student Level: All levels

See how the pairing of images and found objects immediately generates additional meaning in an artwork. Through a series of free associative exercises we’ll design a small construction that illustrates the power of juxtaposition, similar to the way metaphor functions in poetry. Collage and assemblage techniques will be demonstrated.

Instructor’s note: Although all artists work intuitively, many are amazed at how the writing contributes to their understanding of their art process. My aim is for students to question each addition to their piece -- "does this add to the meaning?"

Materials fee of $5 is payable to instructor at class time for Teacher’s handout, shellac & brushes, denatured alcohol, heavy gel, old catalogs, some rags and old newspapers
