Leighanna Light
Student Level - Beginner to intermediate
In this workshop we will create 3 different figures using children’s blocks as the base. First, we will alter the blocks using gesso, paint & a variety of surface design techniques. From there we will create the figure by attaching found objects & ephemera to create a one of a kind found object doll. I will supply a handmade face for each figure, made from polymer clay & I will teach you how to make your own at home. Please join us for a creative, inspiring workshop!
Kit fee of $10 payable to instructor at class time includes: A variety of handmade faces to choose from, blocks for heads , heavy duty glue for heavier objects, wire, some paint, paper, ephemera & images, hangers for the back, some found objects and a handout
Supply List:
3 blocks, approx. 3 by 5 ½ by 1 ¼ (if you can’t find children’s blocks, bring wood cut to this size)
4 oz. white gesso
4 oz. PVA glue
2 or 3 of your favorite paints
Brushes
A heat gun
A variety of found objects for the arms, legs & for decoration
A note about supplies - I bring plenty of images, ephemera & small found objects for everyone to use. However, I believe that it is important to have some materials to work with that you are familiar with & comfortable using. Therefore, I ask that you bring some images & ephemera that you love to work with. Also, we usually end up having a community pile for everyone to use, so please bring extras to share.
