Writing from Pictures: Bringing our lives to LIFE! $125
Joannah Merriman
Student Level: All levels welcome
Type of workshop: Process

Did you ever discover an old suitcase in your mom's attic, full of black & white photos from fifty (or a hundred) years ago? When you're cleaning the garage, do you stumble over your own boxes of old photos? What about that sack full of pics and postcards from your trip to San Francisco when you were in college, or the trek through Europe with an old beau? Or the family reunion on the Kansas farm? Even last year's vacation photos are still in the developing envelope (or digitized on your computer) with not a word of description.

Here's an opportunity to breathe LIFE into some of those old images. In this workshop you will begin with a fistful of photos from your long-ago or recent past, and write short "memory clips" to go with each one. This will give you a start on your very own "This is Your Life" book, which you can shape in whatever way you desire by creating word-and-photo vignettes of cherished times in your life.

Kit Fee of $15 payable to Instructor at class time includes: The containers/blank books and special papers for the writing. No intimidation allowed from your Inner Critic. Remember, this is NOT English Comp class.

Supply list:
-Favorite pen(s) - ones that don't skip or glop when you write . . . in colors if you'd like!
-Photos or postcards of people you knew, places you've been or dream of going, and even some of the oldies with no known story.
