Learn to apply a variety of innovative wire to plier bead setting techniques in this 3-hour wire-wrapping workshop. We will be completing two pair of Tornado-wrapped Earrings & one Triple Tornado-wrapped Pendant ; featured in Scott's upcoming 2nd book, to be published in the near future. After a demonstration on making headpins with 19-gauge Argentium silver wire and a propane torch, the class will use pre-made headpin wires to secure a gemstone bead in 24-gauge wire wrapping of implied tornado vortex. The remaining 19-gauge headpin wires will be shaped into earring backs, formed into a centerpiece Pendant, or combined into multiple chain patterns. Instructor will provide printed instructions, all hand tools needed, and supply kits containing Argentium sterling silver components and quality gemstone beads; a 14/20 gold-filled option will be available at an additional fee. Some basic wire working knowledge is helpful, but no experience necessary; moderate hand-eye coordination required.
Supplies Provided by Instructor include: printed instructions and all hand tools needed including: one Swanstrom flat or chain-nose pliers, flat needle file, a cheap lead-less mechanical pencil, and one well-worn Frisbee-disk.
Kit Fee of $30 payable to Instructor at class time includes: 19-gauge Argentium sterling silver headpins, 24-gauge wrapping wire lengths, and quality gemstone beads.
Supply List: I am requesting that students please bring one or two large pre-drilled beads for a personalized pendant, sized 15mm to 2-inch. Students are welcome to bring their own pliers of preference and their jewelry art to show and tell. To help reduce eyestrain, students may bring their own freestanding light source (with extension cord) and magnification system.
