Student Level : All levels
Ah, Polaroids. Those yellowish tinted images from your family's scrapbook, complete with writing on the bottom lest we forgot when we wore such silly clothes. So why not have a little fun with these little art forms? In this class, we will be using actual Polaroids (either old or new) and modifying them into 3-D creations...how dimensional is entirely up to you. Using collage, painting and assemblage, you will modify existing photos with doodads and other thingies and, when you’re done, they may be a little too thick for the photo album.
Supply List:
Scissors and cutting tools (exacto)
Brushes (acrylic) - smaller and detail
Acrylic Matte Medium – or any adhesive for collage
Paint (acrylic- small tubes): Black, White, Quinacridone Gold, Pthalo Green, Red, Dioxazine Purple (Golden Products preferred)
A few different kinds of glues- clear : (E 6000 or Liquid Nails Clear) and Liquid Nails original formula (red tab on label)
A variety of doo dads, found objects, collage items and photos. Bring various item that you would like to use on your Polaroid this could be anything! (jewelry, fake flowers, price tags, watch parts, shoelaces, fake eyelashes etc.) As I said, anything. We'll have a communal pile of do-dads that students are willing to share with others in the class...so, looks like it's time to clean out those dresser drawers and the garage. Smaller items would be more appropriate for this class.
Polaroids old or new.
