Explore the warmth and beauty of exotic hardwoods like African Bubinga, Brazilian Goncalo Alves or African Padauk*. In this workshop you'll use exotic hardwoods to create a covers for your journal. The covers will feature contrasting inlays of hardwood and copper. The instructor will demonstrate how to use a router table and then you'll use it to create a recess to accommodate a contrasting band. You'll finish the covers by adding additional circular inlays, using a Forstner bit to create recesses for copper discs. Once the covers are complete, you'll create a book block from Fabriano Artistico watercolor paper and sew it to a leather spine. The book block will be sewn onto the completed covers and you'll finish your art journal by creating a closure to keep it secure.
