This class will teach the proper method for not only creating striped loaves, but show the correct way to work with striping to prevent distortion. We'll cover the method for inlaid design of angled, striped components for an illusionary effect. A veneer created with these techniques will be formed into a hollow shape of the student's choice for a lightweight, 3D effect. Methods for suspension including direct cut openings as well as hidden suspension will be covered. Time permitting, there will be a demonstration of scrap clay for creating abstract striping and an overview of how to creating open-frame bezel settings.
