In this workshop you will create a hardbound book that you will make from painted canvas, papers and book boards to create your own unique painted artist book. In the first part of the day you will create painted papers and canvas using a variety of techniques, drawing, free-hand painting, stenciling, stamping and print-making techniques. You will paint a plain canvas that will cover the board boards to create the cover and spine of the book. Then you will paint 4 sheets of large paper that will be folded into four eight page signatures. In the afternoon you will assemble the book form and bind the pages. We will go over embellishment techniques for the cover, including beading techniques, working with polished glass, metal tape and grommets. You will complete a 6 by 6 inch (1 inch spine) square book form with a color palette of your choosing in class.
