This class takes ring-making to a new level. We will look at different styles of ring shanks and multiple adornments for your cabochon. Learn different bezel techniques as well as cabochon setting. De-mystify silver soldering and pick up small tips that will make all the difference as you apply these techniques to your work. This class will boost your confidence in using a torch and creating beautiful rings you can be proud of.

Students will learn: Silver soldering, bezel setting, how to pick cabochons, sweat soldering, proper stamping techniques, various texturing techniques, different ring shank styles and polishing using a polishing cabinet.

Kit/Materials Fee (payable to instructor at class time):

  • $75.00 includes:
  • 2 - 22 gauge sterling silver sheet 1/2" x 3"
  • 2 - 20 gauge sterling silver sheet 2" x 2"
  • 6" - 16 gauge rd sterling silver wire
  • 4" Fine Silver bezel wire
  • 3" - 8 gauge 1/2 rd sterling silver wire
  • 3/16" x 6" - 18 gauge Fine silver bezel wire

Instructor Provided (for use in-class, and to share):

  • Ring Finger Gauge (sizer)
  • Ring mandrel
  • Liver of Sulfur Gel
  • Flex Shaft
  • Burnisher (bezel pusher)
  • Solder set-up
  • Polishing Cabinet

Student should bring:

  • 2 - Cabochons (Instructor will have some for sale at time of class)
  • Bench Block
  • Files
  • Straight edge
  • Sharpie
  • Rawhide mallet
  • Scribe (awl)
  • Jeweler's saw w/#2/0 blades

Suggested:

  • Ring mandrel
  • Texturing hammers
  • Brass mallet
  • Flex Shaft w/felt & muslin buffs
  • Stamps
  • Burnisher (bezel pusher)
  • Ring Finger Gauge (sizer)
