News from ACCILisa Pavelka just returned from the ACCI (American Craft Council International ) Conference in Chicago, July 17th-20th. The convention is one of the world's largest trade shows devoted to fine art, crafting, paper arts and more. Hundreds of vendors from around the world come to display their products devoted to the creative arts. Tens of thousands of buyers attend the convention each year. Lisa was there demonstrating and teaching for Kato Polyclay (Van Aken) along with demonstrating and signing books for Northlight Publications. She also gave an encore workshop of her HIA (Hobby Industry Association) class-Monogram Memory Journal workshop by popular demand. The sell-out class was attended by store owners and buyers who gave the workshop rave reviews. Lisa reports the paper and altered art genres are hot! When she was able to break away from her demonstrating duties, she walked the show floor where she found lots of exciting new products that will be coming to stores near you, including a new line of acid free antique art embellishments from Karmul Studios. Among the new product lines introduced at the show was the Stamp Oasis Lisa Pavelka Designer Series. These deeply etched, unmounted stamps (4 stamps in each set) are perfect for use with polymer clay, ultra thick embossing powders, paper clay, traditional rubber stamping and more. Lisa even found time to Schmooze with friends Suze (Weinberg), Dee Gruenig and Julia Andrus. While at the show, Lisa was contracted to write several magazine articles for publications like Expression magazine and two new books: Altered Clay (Design Originals) and Elegant Gifts with Polymer Clay (North Light) which will be available in late 2004. ©2003, ART Unraveled.
