FOILING AROUND (Foil Imaging Processes)

In this class you will learn how to enhance your mixed-media work using Foil Imaging processes. We will use pearl, matte, glossy, metallic, and Clear tinted foils in beautiful colors like Periwinkle, Sage, Orchid Pink and Turquoise just to name a few. Some of the NEW techniques that will be covered are foil resist, foil fusing, and background blotching with foils.

You will learn how to create intricate patterns and positive/negative Foil images using Xerox copies, rubberstamps, stencils and more! Christine will provide the foils, paper, some adhesives and she will bring her new line of "Fresh Flowers" rubberstamps that she designed for Stampington and Company to experiment with. She will share many color and design tips she has learned along the way as a professional Textile Print Designer.

This class is a process and technique class in which many demonstrations will be done and many samples will be created. The samples you create in this class can be integrated into future altered books, journals, cards and scrapbooks although I am sure you will end the day with many sample that are beautiful enough for framing. Come prepared to play and experience an amazing new palette of foils.  

There will be a $5.00 supply fee payable to instructor at class time for papers supplied. Since the foil glue I recommend seems to be difficult to find, I will have bottles available at a discounted price of $2.00 each. A small amount of the foiling glue will be provided to each student.

Supply List:

Scissors
Two foam paint brushes (1 inch OR 2 inch)
water container
Glue (I prefer Golden Gel Medium)
Paper Towels
Paint/brushes (watercolors or acrylics)
Clear Embossing Pad
Embossing Heat Gun
Sealing Iron or Quilting Iron (if you have one)

Optional Materials:

Collage Ephemera
Rubberstamps or stencils
Sketchbook or Altered Book to do extra samples in.
