Altered Altoids

Learn to collage with polymer clay. You'll create a stunning and unique work of functional art from several techniques including variations on making molds, creating textural backgrounds, framing, basic millefiori cane work, and several methods for permanently transferring images onto polymer clay. In the end you'll have completed two heirloom quality vessel that's ideal for holding tiny treasures photos, pills or whatever your heart desires. More importantly, you'll be taking away techniques for reproducing many more of these memorable marvels.

Lisa will provide handouts, all of the polymer clay, molding compound, adhesives, stamp pads, clay blades, embellishments, pigment powders, texture sheets and an assortment of rubber stamps to work with.

Supply List:

Pasta machine-if you already have one!-with a large “C” clamp (there will be a pasta machine available for sharing in the workshop.)

empty “Altoids” type mint tin

X-acto type craft knife

baby wipes

Optional:

color photo copies or inkjet photos-reduced to 1” x 1” or smaller (an assortment of vintage images will be provided by the instructor)
