Chevron Drops Necklace 6:30 - 9:30 Wednesday Jen Cushman $70
Student Level: All
Type of Workshop: Project
Prerequisite: None
This necklace proves that metalworking needn’t be complicated or expensive to be amazing. Round silver filled and bronze wire is transformed into an organically fabulous mixed-metal necklace. Humble wire is forged, annealed, and formed into a rustic chevron design that's fashion forward.
Materials fee: $15 payable to Instructor at class time includes:
10-, 16-, 18-gauge dead-soft round bronze wire
16-gauge dead-soft silver filled wire
Pickle
Patina solution
Torches and MAPP gas
EyeletsStudents should bring:
Ball-peen hammer
Bench block
Chasing hammer
Fine-tip marker
Flush-cut wire cutters
Metal files
Center punch
Mouse pad
Flatnose pliers
Standard pliers
Roundnose pliers
NOTE: If you wish to use sterling silver in your drops rather than silver filled, bring 2 feet of 16 gauge sterling silver dead soft wire. When we draw a bead on the end of silver filled, the copper core will show through, which adds to the mixed metals look. Sample is made in sterling silver.
