Student Level:
Beginner to Advanced
Type of Workshop: Project

This is a 2 day workshop.

During the Japan Art Clay Awards “The Gate” was awarded “Outstanding Achievement for an International Artist”. I have simplified my work into a class project that will give the beginner a good understanding of the metal clay process and challenge the advanced metal clay enthusiast.

Using silver metal clay students will learn how to “dry work” the clay to make wood grain textured individual slats and form a beautiful gate you can wear as a pendant. Learn techniques including rolling, shape cutting, texturing, joining, blending, drying, and dry working. We will use two part mold material and a demo on reconstituting pmc will be shared. Day two, after your work is kiln fired, finishes and patinas will be applied. We will work with wire, crystals and pearls to bring your work together as a wearable piece of art you can cherish for a lifetime.

Material fee of $90 payable to Instructor at class time includes:

  • 25 grms of pmc3
  • Silver wire
  • Crystals
  • Pearls
  • Chain
  • Liver of sulfur
  • Mold making material
  • Tools students need to bring: I am providing links (click on bold words) as a reference of tools I am asking students bring. It is fine if you have something similar.

  • Instructor will provide for use in workshop:
