    In this class students will learn how to make their own headpins, jumprings, hooks, and bead caps. They will learn how to properly use a torch, dapping block set, disc cutter, drill press, tube cutting jig, jewelers saw and a variety of hand punches. Students will be given the opportunity to experiment with design stamps and letter stamps to personalize their charms. This class focuses on design and composition using a variety of mixed media combining a variety of organic and inorganic materials such as metal sheet, metal tubing , wire, found object, beads, shells, stones, bone, horn, memorabilia, textiles and “up cycled” bits and pieces. No two are ever alike.

    Most students will complete the project in class, some will leave with some assembly required

    Kit Fee payable to Instructor at class time: Option (A) $55 complete kit which includes all copper discs, brass discs, tubing, copper washers, wire, miscellaneous charms, keys, watch parts, recycled glass beads, chain, consumables, and written instructions OR Option (B) $25 kit will include written instructions, copper discs, tubing, wire, chain and consumables. With the $25 kit you will be required to bring all of your own watch parts, glass beads, keys, charms or other found objects to add to your bracelet.

    Instructor will provide all tools and equipment to be used in class. Each pair of students will be provided with a tool box to share. In this box students will find: round nose pliers, chain nose pliers, square nose pliers, wire cutters, metal sheers, 1/8”upper case letter stamps, an anvil, marker, torch and fuel, wooden dapping block, spring loaded punch, drill bits, reamers, ball peen hammer, soft blow hammer, carpenters bench vise, quench bowls, copper tongs, cross locking tweezers, kitchen knife, files, sanding sponges, jewelers saw, saw blades, bench pin, c-clamp, jumpring cutting jig, bee’s wax. As a class, students will share the use of disc cutters, metal dapping blocks, drill presses, wrap-n-taps, design stamps, specialty letter stamps, and if room permits a rolling mill and texture plates. A patina of liver of sulfur will be available if desired.
