Student Level:
All - sawing skills helpful
Type of Workshop: Project

The focus of this class will be on jewelry fabrication techniques that will transfer to projects of your own. The techniques covered will include micro bolts, prong fasteners, staples, sawing, shaping, wire hardening, hook and eye clasp construction, soldering, metal etching, metal distressing and use of patinas for different types of metals.

You will also learn a special technique for adding repoussé relief to metal to increase the 3D effect. A brief introduction to torch-fired enameling will also be covered so you can add color to your creation if you choose.

You will use these techniques to complete a pendant similar to that shown in the sample photos. You will be encouraged to add your touches and embellishments to make the piece truly your own.
