Imagine Alice coming home from her fantastical adventures, reaching into her apron pocket, and finding a memento from Wonderland! What would it look like? A bit quirky, playful, sparkly and full of magic? Perhaps it is a charm that grants your wishes? Join us for a delightful and fun day where you’ll mix found objects, bits of oddments, old jewelry and wee bitty beads into your own special pendant, brooch or ornament. We shall rescue and give new life to your broken jewelry, favorite earring that you lost the other half of, and the beads you’ve bought with the best of intentions but haven’t gotten around to using. Learn many jewelry techniques-how to use a jeweler’s saw, punch and drill holes, and file edges smooth. We’ll examine different ways to compose your piece and how to balance asymmetrical designs. Using cold attachments with eyelets and wire, you’ll bring life to your treasures and unite them in visually compelling ways. As a final touch we’ll add movement with delicate wire spirals and drops. This will be a day full of playful experimentation, learning lots of techniques, and joyful creating. Come join us for a day in Wonderland!

Supplies Provided by Instructor: metal files, wire: silver-colored, brass, copper and annealed steel; jump rings: silver, copper, brass; eyelets: silver, copper, brass; vise, jeweler’s saw, saw blades, lube for blades, EuroPunch round 1.8mm pliers, EuroPunch round 1.25mm pliers, 2 hole metal punch, hammer, bench block, Dremel with drill bits and sanding disk, G-S Hypo Cement, glass and seed beads, beading wire, crimp beads

SupplyList:

• a small handful of treasures which may include: old jewelry pieces, chandelier crystals, chain, beads, pearls, watch face, small found objects, new or rusted bottle caps, small scraps of metal, springs, buttons, anything that catches your fancy.

• round nose pliers

• chain nose pliers

• jewelry snips

• Finishing touches: depending on what you want to make: pin back for a brooch; ribbon, chain and clasp for a necklace
