Glass Enamel Champlevé on Silver Clay

Make silver clay charms using patterns with bezel edges to fill with glass enamel. You will learn basic metal clay techniques as well as how to combine glass enamel with silver. Simple firing methods will be shown using the Beehive Kiln which is especially good for glass enameling. The final charm can be hung on a chain with a jump ring to leave class with a finished piece of jewelry.

Optional Kit fee of $45 payable to Instructor at class time includes: PMC silver clay, glass enamel, basic supplies for metal clay, dust mask, brush, small tool for wet packing enamels

Must bring these supplies if you choose not to purchase the Kit from Instructor:

18 gr. PMC +(Metal Clay Supply) 
Clay Roller ( sherrihaab-shop.com)
Teflon sheet or other work surface  (sherrihaab-shop.com)
10 playing cards  (walmart-or grocery store)
Olive oil or badger balm  (grocery store, price varies)
cup for water
Nail File (walmart or grocery store)
1 each of Sanding papers (3M polishing papers) 400, 600 and 1200 grit (Rio Grande #337-308)
1 Pro polishing Pad (Rio Grande pkg of 50 code #337-020)
NIOSH approved dust mask (3M brand 9920 for dust and fumes-Thompsonenamel.com)
Tool-IT-3 spreader ( thompsonenamel.com)  or can use fine needle pick
small pointed round size 0 paint brush-acrylic type (art supply store)
3-5 colors unleaded glass enamel medium fire medium expansion-clear or opaque (Thompsonenamel.com)
Wet Wipes (walmart, or grocery store, price varies)
5 small plastic or dixie type cups (pharmacy or grocery store)
Distilled water to rinse enamels (grocery store)
Burnishing tool if you have one (I will have a few to borrow)

Instructor will supply: finishing and firing supplies, enameling supplies, textures to borrow for clay designs

Supply list:
textures for clay such as buttons, rubber stamps, etc.
needle tool or similar tool to pierce holes in clay
small paint brush
Please bring opti-visor or other close up vision aids as glass enameling is very fine work.
