"We often come to the table with the expectation that there is a right way and a wrong way to approach the canvas and fully expect that in every art medium there is the potential for a good or bad outcome based on how skilled we are at following the rules. The idea of letting go of control is intimidating, especially when using precious found materials and investing in expensive art supplies. We see the work of others online and in magazines, and think about the technical skill involved in producing that work of art and, if we have never had formal art training, immediately disqualify ourselves from being able to create something we feel emotionally connected to." ~ Crystal Marie, The Art of Expressive Collage

Take this workshop as a stand-alone experience or as an introduction to my in-depth two-day class to continue the momentum.

This workshop will introduce students to the concept of working intuitively, through a playful series of collage exercises designed to address the subconscious obstacles that often prevent us from creating art to our fullest potential. As the day progresses, the ideas introduced through spontaneous activities in the morning, will give way to more focused collage activities in the afternoon, as we learn to trust that our intuition will guide our composition and design decisions to create beautiful works of art ready to display.

Students can expect to leave this workshop with a large number of completed collage works of art in a range of sizes, along with a newfound confidence in their own voice and design abilities as an artist.
