Embroidery is a vast field that encompasses a number of techniques. One approach is called punch needle, an interesting way to create a textured design on fabric.

This needlecraft is very versatile, with lots of applications for use.

I love punch needle embroidery, and would enjoy showing you how it is done! With the correct tools and an understanding of the basic how tos, I think you will come to love it too!

Join me for this journey in punch needle... choose one of the kit designs pictured to get you started.

Kit/Materials Fee (payable to instructor at class time):

  • $20 includes:
  • 12" x 12" piece of weavers cloth with printed design
  • Paper patterns of both designs
  • All floss needed for your design choice
  • Handout on how to needle punch along with tips and techniques
  • A color chart and floss amount for your choice of design

Instructor Provided (for use in-class, and to share):

  • Extras of all tools: punch needles, hoops, scissors, needle threaders, embroidery floss
  • Will bring lots of samples of punch needle work

Student should bring:

  • Student to bring 4 items:
  • Note: It is imperative for punch needlework that you have the proper tools. The first two products mentioned below are specific recommendations and will be a key element for your success. Please bring the specified recommendations to class.
  • Morgan 9" no-slip hoop ($12 as of January 2020)
  • Cameo punch needle with a medium tip (Note: the Cameo ultra punch needle, 3 needle set and needle threader, $26 as of January 2020) See here
  • A punch needle threader (included in kit purchased from the old tatter flag web site - linked above)
  • Small pair of scissors
