Linda Swindle

Art and the creation of art has been a life-long passion. As much enjoyment as I get from creating art, I like to share that passion with others. Graduating with a Bachelors degree in Art Education enabled me to teach and share my love of art with others which I did in the public school system for over 20 years. With this background in education, I am continuing to offer classes and lessons in my studio in Powell Butte, Oregon. I also teach at Sitka Center near Lincoln City, Oregon, through Central Oregon Community College, The Dalles Art Center in The Dalles, Oregon, and Art Unraveled in Phoenix, AZ. My workshop offerings include Make a Mark, Spontaneous Watercolor, PaintSilk!, Felted, Fused, and Upcycled, and Watercolor Journaling among others.

Having left public education, I am able to pursue my interest in watercolor on a daily basis. The spontaneity and freshness of this transparent medium is the aspect that most appeals to me. My subject matter is diverse but the underlying theme is to capture the moment in a loose, spontaneous technique and approach. Living on a small ranch, I am surrounded by the some of the animals that show up in my paintings. These paintings are a joy to create.

In the past 10 years, I have added silk painting to my interests as it is similar to watercolor in its fluid movement and vibrant colors. The tactile element of silk appeals to me as does the transparency of the colors. Then I discovered felting and added it to my interests. I use my painted silk and other found fabrics to create scarves, wall hangings, and other collage pieces.

My work has been displayed and sold in the following galleries: Inspirations (Madras), Ambiance (Redmond), Falcon Crest (Redmond), Bunkhouse Studio (Prineville), Wild River (Bend), Red Chair Gallery, (Bend), and The Dalles Art Center, Artisans in Cedar City, Utah, Hood Ave Art Gallery in Sisters, Oregon and The Ten Oaks Gallery in McMinnville, Oregon. DDFA located in England represents me and markets my images worldwide. FineArt America also markets my work. Currently, I am a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon and have been for over 10 years.
