Judy Hudson

I am a self-taught mixed-media artist, High School Art Educator, and native Texan. The first half of my life was filled with music - playing piano, singing, directing - creating color and emotion with notes and rhythms. Then the sounds began to fade and melodies became more difficult to hear; I had to face the fact that being a musician was no longer a part of my future. However, I was lucky and very stubborn. Life is nothing without passion and in that search for meaning, I discovered a previously unknown talent that excites me even more than music!

Color and texture make me happy and fill my paintings with joy. But, bottom line for me? Creating art MUST be fun; it must be satisfying; it must be fulfilling. I came to visual arts so late in life that I don’t have time to waste doing things I hate or that bore me. I don’t want to think, I want to DO and let my hands and imagination work together to make something beautiful. I like to pretend I am in kindergarten where everything is bright and new and exciting (plus, lots and lots of finger painting) and NO rules!
