The "Barely There" knotted necklace uses an overhand knot technique that encourages students to relax and unknot! This is a chance for attendees to feed their inner creative with laughter and learning in an environment dedicated to expanding the wholeness of creativity. We explore an age-old meditative technique, rhythmic knotting, to make a "Barely There" necklace of pearls on silk thread. Barely There necklaces get rave reviews from travelers of all ages. In addition, those who prefer to wear a lighter necklace will enjoy this project. There's something easy and sophisticated about a pearl that makes a pearl necklace as appropriate with a t-shirt as when paired with a formal dress. In this instance, the knotted and spaced thread gives the illusion the pearls float. Students will complete the 40" - 70" necklace and learn more about knots in the process. Participants are welcome to add their own design innovations, including accent beads of glass. We'll discuss possibilities and see various design examples during the session.
