Surface patterns are everywhere we glance and touch. I love looking for detail patterns in nature and architecture. Sometimes I'll stop and take photos or take the time to draw the design in my journal. Spend a wonderful artful day designing surface patterns on fabric and paper. These little relief block prints hold a huge realm of possibilities. You will learn how to design a repeat image and create wonderful patterns with open acrylic paints. The possibilities are endless! Lines and shapes just pop immediately on the surface and the finished designs hold more possibilities with other mediums. Fabrics can be sewn into endless shapes for practical uses. Indulge yourself and be print happy all day!

Kit/Materials Fee (payable to instructor at class time):

• $20.00 includes:
• Printmaking papers
• print blocks
• paper palettes
• paper towels
• Open acrylic paints and medium

Instructor Provided (for use in-class, and to share):

• extra brayers
• hammers
• carving tools
• pattern designs
• brushes and other tools to use while we work

Student should bring:

• Apron
• 1 or 2 soft rubber brayers - write your name on them
• I yard of 100% cotton sheeting (wash and iron before workshop)
• Acrylic paints - red, yellow, blue, black, white
• 1" flat acrylic brush
• 1 medium size round acrylic brush
• large piece (at least (15" x 22") of cardboard to place under fabric when painting.
• Water container
• #2B pencil
• journal to draw your designs in
