Juliana Coles, award winning fine artist, received her BFA from the Academy of Art College, San Francisco. A controversial pioneer of the Art Journaling movement, Coles developed “Extreme Visual Journaling,” an active meditation technique that accesses archetypal signs and symbols from the unconscious for transformation and healing. This process is now used by art therapists, teachers, artists and professionals the world over. Coles has written numerous workbooks on her process as well as authoring articles for such craft magazines as “Cloth, Paper, Scissors,” and “Somerset Studios.” Her journals have been featured in over 20 books including “Making Journals By Hand,” and as part of the “1000 Journals Project" her work was exhibited at the SFMOMA. Coles remains at the top of her field through workshops and retreats both here and abroad, art exhibitions, revolutionary online courses, and her “Secret Society of Sketchers” group on facebook.
