The interplay between paint and ephemera are as familiar to mixed-media as a marriage between old friends; a staple to many an artists studio, as comfortable as your childhood school supplies. Yet this class will dare you to step out of the realm of the expected and allow your intuitive voice to have its say.

The collaboration of materials begins with several collage and mark-making exercises on paper designed to help the student to loosen up and let go of controlling the outcome, while still creating a very satisfying work of art. With confidence bolstered, the main project begins with a collage as the focal point and then takes it to the canvas with paint, pastel and more. All skill levels are welcome in this class. Join artist, and author of the recently published book The Art of Expressive Collage; Techniques for Creating with Paper and Glue (North Light Books), Crystal Neubauer for an inspiring day and expect to be stretched out of your comfort zone!

Materials Fee: $20 payable to the Instructor at beginning of class includes:
everything else needed for this class, the student may wish to bring their own personal ephemera from home to personalize their art but it isn't necessary and plenty of materials will be on hand to work with.

Student should bring:
Please bring one canvas of your choice for the main project. It should be at least 12” on one side and can be square or rectangle.
