Join Jane Davies, of “The Postcard Project”, for a fun and relaxing evening of artful postcards. Jane will demonstrate her favorite techniques for creating (and mailing) 4”x6” art, and share samples from her collection of handmade cards from all over the world. Use the postcard format for exploring new approaches to composition and expanding your visual vocabulary. Then send your teeny tiny masterpieces out into the world to light up a friend’s day. You will gain new tools for making fabulous mail art, and do your part in preserving the art of the hand-written, mailed, card.

Materials fee of $2 payable to Instructor at class time includes:

• Paper for the substrate
• My wealth of knowledge, and pearls of wisdom (or stupidity)
• Some of my postcard collection from The Postcard Project, for inspiration

Students should bring:

This is a composition-based workshop, not a technique-based one, so you may bring whatever materials you would like to use. They should be reasonably fast-drying (no oil paint, for example), and not require major equipment and ventilation (no encaustic or citrasolve). Here are suggestions:

Acrylic paints (with brushes, mediums, palette, tools for applying)

Stamps (especially postal-related ones) and stencils

Inks

Markers and pens

Other drawing tools

Collage papers (and matte medium or glue)
