Silver Blade
Tuesday, July 29 6:30 - 9:30 and $215 Michael McMillen Wednesday July 30 9 - 4:30
Student Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Type of Workshop: Project
Prerequisite: None
This is a 9 hour workshop.
Students in this workshop will be creating a large silver pendant from 45 grams of PMC+. That’s not a typo folks. We will be focusing on shaping the clay at the dry stage with various sculpting, sanding and filing tools and some that may be considered odd for the PMC arena. We will do very little wet clay work save to join dry bits together in order to form a more detailed piece. My motto with wet clay is roll it flat, cut it and get it dry. The idea is to explore thick hard edged shapes and graceful clean, smooth forms. We will try to avoid using rubber stamp patterns or word stamps to add detail, however, as in all areas of life, rules should and will be broken. If time permits we can add wire work and copper or brass shapes to finish off the look.
