Kaleidoscope Hearts

Wednesday eve 6:30 - 9:30   $70

Student Level:
All
Type of Workshop: Process and Project
Prerequisite: None

Everyone can draw a heart! You will start out with a simple drawing and then learn how to transform it into an abstract, colorful painting reminiscent of a glowing stained glass window. Stained glass is most resplendent when there is light shining through. This is the same with watercolors but in a painting, the light is the white of the paper. Not all watercolors work this way and you will play with the different colors of watercolor paints to learn the correct way to get this beautiful transparent effect. You will finish by embellishing your little paintings with acrylics and pens that will make your hearts pop!

Materials fee of $5 payable to Instructor at class time includes use of:
  • Small watercolors palettes for students to use so if you do not have paints don't feel like you have to spend a lot of money to invest in them.
  • Artist tape
  • Extra Golden Fluid acrylic paint – iridescent gold, iridescent copper, black and white.
  • Sharpie oil-based paint fine point pens (white, magenta, aqua, yellow, pink, lime).
  • Smooch paints
  • Glaze 3D pens
  • Sakura 3D pens

    Students should bring:
  • Your watercolor supplies, if you have them, including your watercolor paints, palette and brushes or consider my Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolor Jacqueline Newbold Traveling Kit.
  • Here are a few of the colors I recommend if you do not have the kit: new gamboge, hansa yellow, Winsor red, permanent rose, phthalo blue, and cerulean blue.
