    this is the class for you!

    The process of ART cannot be contained, but there is much joy in creating an artful container for the results of our passion.

    I am inspired every time I see a blank canvas. In this class we wil make use of the canvas, both inside and out. On the outside of your case you will create ancient texture using paint, mediums and a little of Lesley’s secret sauce to recreate the look of patina and weathered walls. The inside will be what you want it to be: a display case for your art, secret/hidden compartments or a sacred space to encase your art. You decide.

    What would a class with Lesley be without TAP Transfer Artist Paper? We will create an array of gorgeous, hand-painted pages for your artful case and explore resists and masks. You’ll learn how to use TAP to add text, pattern, image and more to your pages. You’ll walk out with a real treasure and lots of inspiration for future projects...just in case.

Materials fee of $20 payable to Instructor at class time includes:
  • Golden Paint mediums
  • Paints
  • Nails
  • Ribbon
  • Patinas
  • Leather binding
  • TAP transfers

    Students should bring:
  • 2 - 8x10” stretched canvases gallery wrapped, similar to Blick Traditional 7/8" Profile Canvas found at Dick Blick
  • 1 sheet 90 lb smooth (hot press) watercolor paper
  • Plastic palette knife
  • Rags or paper towels
  • Water container
  • Gloves and apron if desired for painting
  • Hammer to share if driving to retreat - no need to pack one if flying!
  • 1” foam brush and a couple of cheap bristle brushes (1/2” flat is good)

    Optional:
  • Found objects (rusty is good) to add to your case exterior
  • Heat gun
