Type of Workshop: Process and Project
Prerequisite: None

I love graffiti art. I marvel at the hap-hazard nature of the meticulously creative power of those who create this raw, street art style. I wanted to create an art bag to carry my stuff. I’ve seen many, but wanted an original graffiti style bag to call my own. After finding a carrier I liked, I moved forward with a design that produced a distinct look. In this techniques/project workshop, you’ll learn an easy process to make your paint colors pop on fabric. Learn graffiti style writing and how to achieve that “dirty” bag look in your individual piece. We’ll also work with underlying of acrylic paint, flat brush application, freehand design, personal color selection, using mediums with paint, and heat setting your paint to fabric. This bag will hold up for years, through wash and wear and you’ll love the results.

Materials fee of $10 payable to Instructor at class time includes:
  • Golden Acrylic Paints
  • Amsterdam Acrylic Paints
  • Golden GAC 900 Fabric Medium
  • Arizona Wet Palette
  • Water Carriers
  • Medium Carriers
  • Scruffy Brushes to use
  • Stylus
  • Palette Knives
  • Embellishing Fibers and decorative yarn
  • Metal clips

    Students should bring:
  • Acrylic Brushes: Flat - #8 and #12, Round - #3
  • Any additional brushes you prefer, but make sure you have the above 3 brushes. They do not need to be expensive; Craft Smart by Royal, purchased at local craft stores in 4 or 5 to a package for under $10.00 will work well. You can find these at Hobby Lobby or Michael’s Craft Stores.
  • Prismacolor Premium, permanent black, dual tipped felt marker. One side has a point; the other side is wide & slanted.
  • 15” Riggers, Beige, Canvas Bag: 15”L x 8 ½” H x 7” W. I purchased mine at Harbor Freight for $14.99. If you would prefer another bag it will not have the same results. I will be teaching from the pictured pattern with a personal, varied color palette for each student. http://www.harborfreight.com/canvas-riggers-bag-38124.html
  • Art buttons or attachments you may want to attach to your bag for your personal flair
