36 Shades of Gray
Monday 9 - 4:30 $145 Pam Carriker
Student Level: All
Type of Workshop: Project - students will take home a completed piece of art
Prerequisite: None
Not every thing is black or white; most consist of varying tones or Shades of Gray. In this evocative workshop we’ll explore 36 Shades of Gray using Derivan Liquid Pencil, the original formula with its lovely tinted shades of graphite as well as my Liquid Pencil Sketching Inks. In a portfolio style art journal that we make in class, we’ll explore the tonal values of this fun medium and create softly beautiful art at the same time. Value charts, Color Wheels, and Still Life Value Studies will all be part of the process of discovery as we complete a journal tool that you can reference again and again after you leave. We will cover the properties of both the Permanent and Rewettable Liquid Pencil, explore creating varying tones of each of the 6 colors, create still life art, use stencils and stamps and play with Reductive Drawing. Notes, thoughts and journaling will take place along the way as we complete a beautiful journal.
