Have you ever sat and wondered how to include you precious photos into your journal?
Or how to create translucent textures for your collage? In this workshop we will learn over a dozen different techniques to transfer images directly into an origami memory book!In the morning we will focus on learning the different transfer techniques which will include glues & mediums, solvents, and heat. Some are fast and give instant gratification while others have multiple steps that will require drying time. No need to worry about down time, we will also be prepping our pages and cover boards for our memory books. Book kits include supplies for square books. However, if this is not the shape you envisioned for your memory book, I will demonstrate how to customize the square books and pages into different shapes. Also included in your kits will be fun imagery to incorporate into your designs. During the afternoon, we will continue applying transfers to the book pages and adding personal touches. Finally we will finish up by assembling our books.
So, start gathering your photos and have them color copied (needs to be toner-based) or print them out on your laser printer. Although the majority of the image transfer techniques we will explore use toner based prints, I will also be demonstrating a few inkjet transfers. Samples of these for you to try will be included in your book kit. Also, don’t forget magazine images, they work wonderful!! Keep in mind, if you have text on your image, it will need to be printed in reverse for some of the techniques. So best bet, bring two copies: one with the text reading normal the other with the text/image in reverse.
