Wearable art is more popular than ever ! Join in this three hour workshop to be well on your way to creating your unique, one of a kind art to wear. Each student will recreate their tee shirt selection, exploring techniques in embroidery, appliqué and reverse appliqué. A selection of templates for designs will be available for use in class, and a discussion on color choices and the most effective use of composition will have you creating your own wearable art.
Supplies provided by Instructor:
- Templates for designs
- Extra 100 % cotton fabric in a selection of colors for appliqué piecing
- Needles
- Threads
- Extra marking pencil
- Straight pins
- Scissors
- Basting materials
- Several finished samples will be available for inspiration
Students should bring:
- One, 100 % cotton knit tee shirt that fits as you like to wear it. note: the tee shirt should not have any lycra in it, or be a ' tissue' type knit.
- Scraps of 100% cotton knit in colors to work with tee shirt selection, for appliqué technique
- A choice of thread, ideas to choose from include : embroidery floss, pearl cotton ( # 8 is the most general size) button and carpet thread
