Soldered House Bottle Topper Thursday 1:30 - 4:30 $70 Josie Cirincione
Student Level: Any
Type of Workshop: Process and Project
|
I am always looking for alternative ways to display family photos. What better way than to solder a collaged photo stopper on top of an antique bottle. The best part is the topper is 2 sided. You can have an image on the front and whatever you like for the back. The possibilities are endless. Many of the bottles are from the early 1900’s. Each one comes with its own bit of history. As they age the glass changes color, areas become iridescent, cloudy areas appear, and depending where they were unearthed, bits of dirt and debris are living inside.
In this workshop, you will learn how to cut glass, solder dimensional pieces, patina solder, tack solder pieces together to create larger dimensional works of art. The techniques you learn in this class can be applied to numerous projects. This is both a process and project workshop with the emphasis being on soldering techniques.

Upon signing up for the workshop you will receive a template. If you want to make a collage bring copies or straight forward photos (copies) make image 1/8” larger (all the way around) than the template. Do not cut down to size. We will cut images in class. Remember you will need 2 (front and back) and do not cut down to size. Do not put words or faces on the very edge of your image. Part of the image or word will be covered. Bring extra copies of each image (just in case the first one gets messed up). It's extremely important to have images ready to go prior to the workshop. Other than cutting images down to glass size there will be no collage assembly in class. All images need to be one dimensional.
- Pair of gardening or utility gloves
