Let's Get Plastered Tuesday 9 - 4:30 $145 Sandra Duran Wilson
Student Level: All
Type of Workshop: Process but will finish a painting
|
We won’t be playing drinking games but we’ll be having even more fun! Remember the beautiful old world frescoes with all the wonderful textures, the ancient cracks, the subtle color variations and the luminosity? You will learn how to create the same effects. We will work with plaster and joint compound on boards, creating a wonderful absorbent texture that you can then paint on with acrylics. I will teach you how to get tantalizing textures, layer color, create crackle effects, carve back into the work and even transfer images onto your masterpieces. No experience is necessary and you will be surprised just how easy it is to achieve amazingly beautiful results. I will demonstrate many techniques including how to apply the plaster, emboss textures, layer colors, and scribing and sgraffito. You will learn some really cool tricks for working with the materials and how to seal and layer to preserve what lies below the surface. This is a technique class but also a project will be completed.
I use many of the techniques from my book, Surface Treatment Workshop, to create wonderful textures and surfaces using these products. One of my favorite things to teach is how to use everyday tools and materials that we have around the house. You will be amazed at all the art supplies that may be lurking in your garage. Please join me for a fun filled day and let’s get plastered.
