Kiss Polka Goodbye Tuesday 9 - 4:30 $145 Connie Cox August 7
Student Level: All
Type of Workshop: Project
Accordions are not just for polka anymore! We will be transforming a child's accordion into a true accordion book! This is an opportunity to tell a story in a fun & whimsical manner using pictures, found objects, toys and other treasures. You could create a fairy tale, a theme book, or a unique scrapbook with vacation or special event photos and souvenirs perhaps. Pages are approximately 4"x7". What's great about this book is that there is a 1" deep shadow box built right in. Instructor will demonstrate a simple way of sculpting a head like the monkey featured in Le Cirque. You will learn how to dismantle an accordion and reassemble it into a book, strategies for painting backgrounds, methods for integrating new materials with old cohesively, detail treatments including a simple way to make a small stamp such as a star. Instructor supplies a handout, use of tools such as a drill, screw drivers, corner rounders, etc. The music component is disabled when an accordion is altered in this fashion. Depending upon how fast you work, some students may need to finish after class. In other words, the featured book took more than 1 day to complete.
Kit fee of $25 payable to Instructor at class time includes:
