This class offers a wonderful chance to learn how to work with metal clay using the inexpensive torch firing method. Students will create delicate embossed frames with Fine Silver from a variety of shapes and messages. Basic hand finishing and patina method will be covered in finishing the frame. We’ll follow by learning how to create an image transfer backfill. Additional embellishment using simple stripping method for clay borders and basic millefiori leaf accents will be covered with a demonstration on precision stripping. Lastly, students will have the option to give their completed masterpiece a glass-like finish using quick cure resin.
Kit Fee of $10 payable to Instructor at clas time includes:
- image transfer sampler
- polymer clays
- small bottle of resin (optional chains can be purchased following class).
Supplies Provided by Instructor:
- torch set-ups
- patina
- UV light source
- sealer
- texturing tools
- blades
- torch toothpicks
- baby wipes
- adhesive.
Students should bring:
- Scissors
- 7 – 10 gram package of Art Clay Silver
- jewelry pliers (wire nippers, chain nose and flat nose pliers without grooves).
