While folk-lore has long attributed mystical powers to the human hand, the phrase ' Hand of Glory' is derived from the French, ' main de gloire'. In a few of the Harry Potter books, the hand of glory illuminates only for the one who possesses it, and The hand of glory purportedly has the power to unlock any door it comes across. Unlock your artistic adventure with this project! Learn to create a faux metal finish on a sewn, stuffed fabric hand and embellish with a selection of fabrics, laces and trims that you paint as well.
Kit fee of $20 payable to Instructor at class time includes:
- A sewn, stuffed fabric hand, primed and ready for faux metal finish
- Strips of various silks, cottons, laces, ribbons and silk cord, ready for painting
- A selection of buttons and trinkets for embellishment
- Directions for stitching and stuffing as well as step out for painting and finishing
Supplies provided by Instructor:
- Extras of all fabrics , laces, ribbons, etc.
- Other fabric selections for interest
- Paints
- Foam brushes
- Needles
- Threads
- Fabric glue to use in class
- Extra trinkets and do-dads
Students should bring:
- One 2 oz bottle of craft paint in a metallic color of your choice ( sample was done in Folk-art brand antique copper)
- Trinkets, charms, beads and buttons to use as embellishments
- One focus piece, button, bead or charm for the finishing touch on hand
- Any special fabrics to work with your color choice (optional)
